Course Title: SVSTI Central Service (CS) / Sterile Processing & Distribution Technician (SPD) Course
1040 Park Ave. #C
San Jose, CA 95126
Course Fee: $2500 includes externship, textbook, professional liability, certification prep class, online platform, hands on labs, back ground & drug test as requested per clinical site. Also, we certify for BLS before externship.
SVSTI offers you an outstanding SPD course to learn and carry out all the sterile processing functions with surgical instruments and medical equipment. In most scenarios, sterile processing technician will work in specific roles in order to achieve a high standard patient care and keep the risk of hospital-acquired infection at its lowest. These roles include meticulous examination of instruments and devices to ensure they are clean and safe to use, monitor and operate sterilization equipment and assemble specialty instrument trays.
As many healthcare facilities are increasingly concerned about nosocomial infections, more jobs are available for SPD techs than ever before. Many of these positions are full-time, part-time, per diem, and even away from home as travel assignments. Sterile Processing is a dedicated department considered as the heart of any hospital or medical center. SVSTI will prepare you to become a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician.
SVSTI is a blended Program; hands on skills in central service lab to prepare you for needed skills for externship, along with online platform to prepare you for the materials to pass certification test. This course is 4 weeks in lab learning the parameters, workflow, guidelines, instruments etc., then a 6 week extern rotation with a central service department at a medical facility. Students then will sign up for certification exam after completion of classwork, labs, and externship.
Textbook used: The Basics of Sterile Processing 6th edition (textbook), workbook is built in on the online platform.
This course will help students be able to perform and participate in decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment. Also to perform other duties as assigned or required. It will prepare the student the knowledge needed to work with chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious diseases. This course teaches basic knowledge needed for an entry level central service technician in a medical setting.
